Directory Profile: Reena Bajowala

Biography:
Reena R. Bajowala is an attorney in Jenner & Block’s Chicago office. Ms. Bajowala represents Fortune 500 clients in complex commercial litigation as a member of the Firm’s Litigation Department and its ERISA Litigation Practice. She also serves as Co-Chair of the Firm’s Asian Forum. Prior to joining the Firm as an attorney, Ms. Bajowala was a summer associate at Jenner & Block during the summer of 2004. Ms. Bajowala joined Jenner & Block after completing a graduate fellowship with the Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) in the summer of 2005 at the Roger Baldwin Foundation of the ACLU-Illinois. In the summer of 2003, Ms. Bajowala also served as a PILI Intern at the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation (CVLS). Currently, Ms. Bajowala holds a position as the Chair of the Ambassador program for the PILI Alumni Program. Ms. Bajowala is a member of the Junior Board of Directors for Apna Ghar (in Hindi, "Our Home"), a domestic violence shelter, social service, and legal advocacy organization that primarily serves South Asian women and children. Ms. Bajowala is currently serving as a co-chair for the 5th Annual North American South Asian Bar Association (NASABA) Convention in Chicago in 2008 and has also been an active member of one of the host bar associations, the Indian American Bar Association (IABA), since 2005. Ms. Bajowala graduated, cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School in 2005, where she was an active member of the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association (APALSA), including serving as Vice-President in the 2003-2004 academic year and Founder of the annual Origins Cultural Festival and Origins Scholarship Program in 2005, which provides financial support for law students working to advance the public interest. Ms. Bajowala also received a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign in 2001, where she was a member of the Dean’s List and graduated with Golden Key, Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Eta Sigma honors. In addition, she served on the executive board and was a competing member of the UIUC Mock Trial Team. Ms. Bajowala is admitted to practice in the state of Illinois, the Northern District of Illinois, and the Southern District of Illinois.
