NEW YORK, NY. – March 16, 1010 – The
South Asian Bar Association of New York
(SABANY), the
North American South Asian Bar Association
(NASABA) and the
Asian American Bar Association of New York
(AABANY) teamed up to host a reception honoring Preet Bharara, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, on March 10.
Bharara was nominated as the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York by President Barack Obama and was sworn in for that position in October. More than 120 friends, colleagues and supporters attended the event in his honor.
“It’s such a pleasure to share this accomplishment with so many of my colleagues,” said Bharara. “The most important piece of advice I can offer is to encourage everyone to dedicate some of their time to work in public service. The work I have done in public service is by far the most rewarding of my career, and I feel truly blessed to be surrounded each day by smart people who believe so strongly in the work we do.”
