Criminal Justice Committee
Mission Statement

NASABA's Criminal Justice Committee is comprised of South Asian attorneys, including federal and state prosecutors, criminal defense attorneys, and other attorneys. The Committee addresses criminal justice issues facing South Asians in the United States and Canada, including but not limited to issues concerning civil rights violations, hate crimes and selective prosecution. As the primary voice on criminal justice issues within NASABA, the Committee identifies matters that necessitate an appropriate response from NASABA and coordinates the development of that response. The Committee accomplishes this task by monitoring criminal matters that involve South Asians, promoting research projects, sponsoring and participating in meetings, institutes, and conferences of educational value, supporting publication of legal writings, meeting with state and federal government officials concerning criminal justice matters and adopting positions on issues of public concern in the field of criminal law.
