This Fall NASABA has focused on strengthening relationships with its Chapters, Affiliates and the communities in which we live and work. We started September with a reception honoring the South Asian American appointees to the Obama Administration in Washington D.C. The event was well attended and gave us a chance to honor the accomplishments of this talented group of professionals that have been selected by the President. The press release from the event can be found on our News and Events Page and pictures are posted in the Gallery.

NASABA co-sponsored a joint CLE in September with the newly formed India Committee of the ABA International Law Section entitled ”Enforcing Foreign Judgments and Arbitral Awards in India.” This event highlighted the great resources and talent that we have within our membership as Professor Vik Khanna of the University of Michigan, Co-Chair of NASABA’s Legal Educators Section, shared his experiences in this area along with a stellar group of attorneys from India.

On October 3rd, Chapters from Boston to Northern California recognized SAALT’s “Be The Change” Day by participating in local community service events.

On October 2-3, NASABA held its annual leadership retreat in Atlanta, Georgia. The Friday evening welcome reception was attended by the Chief Justice of the Georgia Supreme Court, Carol Huntstein, and the President of the State Bar of Georgia, Bryan Cavan. In its sixth year, the leadership retreat has served as a great vehicle for Chapters to highlight their membership and events to NASABA, and for NASABA to introduce itself to the local Chapters.

Coming in November: NASABA IP Section’s Roundtable on Legal Process Outsourcing to be held in New York City on November 4th – See News and Events section.

As always, feel free to email me with your thoughts and comments.
